Window boxes are small boxes usually placed on the silt of windows or hanging from there. You must take care while choosing an appropriate plant for window boxes; otherwise they might die out in sometime.
Remember window boxes share a small area, so choose a small plant. Also the amount of sunlight in restricted, more so, if the window is oddly placed. So it is adviced to choose a plant that can easily bloom in sun shade or less sunlight. Avoid plants that require extensive soil need or care. It is difficult to care, especially if the window box is hanging from the window. Choose small plants that need minimum care. Plants that fall out like creepers from window boxes look much better than tall ones.
With outdoor planters there is no dearth of choices. Though, one should choose a plant whose color and height compliment the outdoor planters. Avoid getting a plant that grows very tall, on a small sized planter. Similarly if you contrast the color of your outdoor planter and that of your plant is looks awesome.
