My friend is a Utah gastroenterologist and is getting a bit worried about his job. He says that there seem to be a lot more people coming on to the job market with his sorts of qualifications and he is concerned that he could find more clinics opening up to compete with his and there is a chance that he woudl either have to lower his costs or close down if people go to other places rather than his. He does not have that much competition at the moment as he is positioned in an area where there are not that many competitors but if there are lots of gastroenterologists in Utah all of a sudden, they may notice that he has a good location and decide to open up nearby. He is busy and so could cope with one other clinic sharing his business but if too many opened up nearby he could be in big trouble. He loves what he does and if anything interferes with that then he starts to worry and panic and it is not nice to see him like that. I do hope it all works out well for him as he works really hard and deserves to do well and for his clinic to thrive.
